  • Bands & Buns

    Bring your backside to the front of mind with this quickfire class focused on getting your tush toned!


    Resistance bands training will encourage lean, strong muscles in arms and legs.

  • Barre

    B - Breath for engagement;

    A- Activate then move to strengthen & lengthen;

    R - Restore body balance with both strength & mobility

    R - Range of motion leads to movement fluidity;

    E - Enhance your body awareness.


    We will alternate using various tools such as light hand weights, a ballet barre, gliding discs, resistance bands and Bender balls to provide you with a fun filled, fast moving, upbeat class with numerous options offered allowing everybody to fully engage at their own competency level.


    Barre is a no - to low impact class that focuses on functional movements, full range of motion and alignment leading to improved overall functionality. A truly fun class for ALL LEVELS!

  • Beach Yoga

    Join us for this generous and focused flow class - a moving meditation that will both inspire and encourage. 

     

    All Levels Welcome!

    This class is held at Beach Access #23 on Silversides Trail at the intersection of Muscadine and South Bald Head Wynd.  Please bring a large towel or blanket, plenty of water and wear sunscreen! 


    All class registrations are subject to our 24hr cancellation policy, and no-shows will forfeit their class pass.*


    *In the event of  inclement weather, this class may be canceled but your pass is useful for any of our other class offerings during your stay! If you are leaving the island and there is inclement weather, we are happy to refund your pass if you will not be returning to the island to use it.

  • Beginner's Guided Marsh Walk/Hike

    Join avid explorer and distance hiker Greg Guthrie, CHC on this gentle Guided Trail Walk/Hike from Island Retreat Spa to the Kent Mitchell Nature Trail and back.

     

    Take pause at the marsh views, breathe the salt air, and learn about what makes the island's marshes so special. 

     

    Please wear sunscreen and sneakers. Ponchos provided if it is raining. 

     

    This Hike is approximately 30-45 minutes. Rain or shine.

     

    Not recommended for children under age 10, or adults needing assistance walking up/down stairs.

  • Core Sculpt

    A unique class with a gentle approach. We will work on toning the diaphragm, deep core (transverse abdominal muscles) and pelvic floor muscles through a wide variety of exercises.

    The goal is to give you a better understanding of how to activate and strengthen these muscles so that you have optimal function and spinal and pelvic stability.

     

    Best for: prenatal/postnatal women, men who lack core strength and those looking to build a foundation of strength 

     

    All fitness levels welcome!

  • Express Barre Burn

    A higher-intensity Cardio Barre class!

  • Hatha Yoga

    Hatha is a combination breathwork-asana-flow class that incorporates movement, stillness, meditation and focus on balance.

  • Intermediate Forest Hike

    Join avid explorer and distance hiker Greg Guthrie, CHC on this Guided Trail Walk/Hike through the Loop Trail (3mi).

    The Loop Trail explores 3 miles of Bald Head Island's Maritime Forest Preserve. You will encounter wildlife such as insects, snakes, deer and more of the island's wild residents, but do not fear - they are part of what makes this trail so special! The Maritime Forest is lush and beautiful, but not easily transversed, so this hike is recommended only for intermediate to advanced hikers. 


    Please wear sunscreen, a hat and appropriate hiking shoes or sneakers. Bug spray, a snack and souvenir water bottles provided. Ponchos provided if it is raining.


    This Hike is approximately 1.5-2 hours. Rain or shine.

  • Mat Pilates

    Pilates is a strengthening and lengthening form of exercise that focuses on your core (trunk) muscles while also training your arms and legs. Mat Pilates is based on the original exercises Joseph Pilates developed to strengthen his own body as a very young man and then began teaching others.

     

    This Class will often utilize 2lb. and 3lb. weights, Pilates rings, resistance bands, and mat-based exercises to help strengthen, lengthen and tone.

     

    BEST FOR: Strength, toning, posture

    Experience: Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. Please discuss modification needs with instructor prior to class start time.

  • Power Yoga

    An intermediate to advanced class combining intuitive movement, innovative asanas, and focused breath connection, this class moves with a unique rhythmic flow sure to get you smiling.


    RECOMMENDED SKILL LEVEL: All welcome, intermediate-advanced (faster pace)


    BEST FOR: Energy, Stress Relief, Movement, Strength

  • Restorative Yoga

    Restorative Yoga is a slower-paced relaxation class with an emphasis on breath awareness to encourage a meditative state. All levels of experience are welcome.


    Stretches will be held for a little longer to release tension, from hips, hamstrings and lower back (areas where we tend to hold on to stress). We will include some gentle back extension and flexion for spinal health and elasticity, as well as gentle inversions for heart health and anti-aging . Option at the end for a long Savasana to soak up all the benefits of your practice.

  • Vinyasa on the Beach

    Our morning Vinyasa Flow was redesigned as a beach-friendly class to build strength and invigorate your sense. Students please meet at Beach Access 23 (directly across from Muscadyne Wynd). 


    Pre-registration with pre-payment is required for all beach/outdoor classes.


    Please bring water and a large towel. 



    RECOMMENDED SKILL LEVEL: All levels welcome, some experience recommended.

  • Vinyasa Flow

    Stay connected with Vinyasa Flow. In this class all muscles and major joints of the body will be worked as you connect your postures in a fluid motion. The incorporation of mindful breathing will leave you feeling refreshed.

     

    RECOMMENDED SKILL LEVEL: All levels welcome! Modifications for more gentle or more intense options are offered in each class. 


    BEST FOR: Movement, Breath work, Mindfulness

     

    All classes include premium Manduka mats & props, filtered water and personalized attention.

  • Yin + Flow Yoga

  • Yin + Meditation

    Yin Yoga has the same goals and objectives as any other school of yoga; however, it directs the stimulation normally created in the asana portion of the practice deeper than the superficial or muscular tissues (which we are calling the yang tissues). Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice.

    Suitable for almost all levels of students, Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.


    While initially this style of yoga can seem quite boring, passive, or soft, yin practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses. We can remain in the postures anywhere from one to twenty minutes! Yin and yang tissues respond quite differently to being exercised. You need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. After you have experienced it, even just once, you will realize that you have been doing only half of the asana practice.

    ZUMBA JAM!

    Join us on the deck for an all-out Latin Dance Party! This class is chock full of hip-shakin' music, sassy moves and all the fun you can pack into 45 minutes. You won't want to miss a moment!
